Sailing

Newport is considered one of the sailing capitals of the world. Among its many claims to that title is the fact that it is home to the largest fleet of America’s Cup 12 Meters in the world, most of which are available for charter. Enough said.

Festivals & Celebrations

Steeped in a rich heritage of art and artist organizations (Newport Art Association remains one of the oldest continuously operating art associations in the country), Newport and The Classic Coast continues to harbor a vibrant arts community comprised of galleries, film festivals, dance, comedy and theater companies, and live music venues and festivals.

Family Fun

In the warm months the coast is a create-your-own-adventure playground for young and old. Come wintertime, we keep it interesting (try a brisk beach walk in January followed by hot cocoa in a local cafe) with winter festivals, ice skating, theater and entertainment.

Farmer's Markets, Foodie Tours, and more

With more than 1,000 farms within Rhode Island’s borders, our farmer’s markets are a year-round affair. Sample our area’s bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables along with local offerings from talented artisan bakers, chefs, and craftspeople. Beyond that we've got all kinds of amazing restaurants ranging from surf to turf.

Historic Places

Rhode Island is pretty old. Older than the United States itself, in fact. If you’re here, chances are, you’re already standing on some historic ground. Some of our past has been preserved and studied while others are still in operation. Click below to search some historic spots of Greater Newport!
