Work Immersion Grants from the Governor's Workforce Board

The Work Immersion Program offers wage reimbursements (up to 50%) to eligible Rhode Island businesses that provide a temporary paid work experience to a RI-based college student (or recent graduate), Career and Technical High School Student (or recent graduate), or an unemployed adult.

Rhode Island Commerce Corporation

The Rhode Island Commerce Corporation offers a host of programs and services for businesses who are starting, expanding, or relocating to Rhode Island. The state offers a hotline for small businesses: 401-521-HELP. The Business Navigation Center helps businesses navigate and access information on government services and partner programs, and the Statewide Action Team serves as a centralized concierge network to help address issues with state agencies impacting businesses. The Small Business Assistance Program helps businesses that have trouble obtaining adequate credit from traditional lending organizations.

Ocean State Business Development Authority

Ocean State Business Development Authority, is a certified development company that assists companies in Rhode Island and nearby areas of Connecticut and Massachusetts to receive small business loans. . The Authority is licensed and regulated by the U.S. Small Business Administration to make 504 loans in this region. Their role is to help small businesses access long-term fixed-asset financing in partnership with the private sector, usually a financial institution.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)

The Small Business Administration provides assistance to small businesses in the areas of access to capital, entrepreneurial development, government contracting, and advocacy. The Rhode Island District Office offers financial assistance for new or existing businesses, free counseling through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders, and special programs available for minority owned businesses, women business owners, and veterans.

Rhode Island PTAC

The Rhode Island Procurement Technical Assistance Center (RI PTAC) provides a variety of services to Rhode Island based businesses of all sizes to help them navigate the complexities of contracting with federal agencies, state purchasing departments, and local governments.  Receive guidance through all facets of contracting including acquisition planning, subcontracting, solicitation analysis, proposal development, dispute mitigation, cost/price analysis, and post ­award administration.  RI PTAC services are free to all Rhode Island businesses.
